4 good reasons to visit the Côte d’Azur

The Côte d’Azur is a region of varied and delicious pleasures. Whether you’re a hard-core hiker, in favour of lazing around, a gourmet or eager for culture, you’ll be fulfilled. There’s an endless range of activities for the happiness of families as well as solitary adventurers. Located between the sea and the mountains, the Côte d’Azur has assets that we will present in a few bullet points.

1. The Alpes Maritimes, specialised for lazing around

The Italian influence may have something to do with it… The residents of Nice know how to take the time to do nothing while taking advantage of the sun, the sea, and the marvellous landscapes available to them.

To be happy, one sometimes needs only a beach towel and the right place to do nothing. Here’s the Riviera Holiday Homes favourite

Go down to La Mala beach on the Cap d’Ail side. Just be attentive if you have a stroller or if you find it difficult to walk as the stairs which lead down are rather long. But the effort is well worth it! You’ll have the advantage of a magnificent beach. Be sure to pack a picnic as the beach attendants deserted the area in May 2018. 400m2 of beach just for you.

2. Gluttony is not a terrible thing…

Especially when there’s olive oil and chick pea flour. Don’t wait any longer to taste-test this Niçois culinary specialty par excellence: Socca! It can be savoured with drinks, right after the beach in the morning, or in the evening. A delight for the taste buds. Socca is the symbol of Niçois gastronomy so it’s important to visit and taste it. Several establishments have it on their menus. Here are several addresses: Chez Pipo on the port of Nice, Socca Tram in the Liberation neighbourhood, or La Socca de Thérèsa on the Saleya Cours market. No more excuses!

4. An open mind comes with a touch of Culture

The Matisse Museum is open all summer from 10am to 6pm every day except Tuesday. Meet at 164, avenue des Arènes de Cimiez, 06000 Nice. From June 23 to September 29, 2018, take advantage of the exhibition “Matisse & Picasso, la comédie du modèle”, a National Picasso Museum in Paris initiative and with the exceptional support of the National Picasso Museum-Paris. A hymn to two sacred masters of the 20th century for whom the relationship between the painter and his model was a driving force in their thought-process. Not to be missed this summer.
