Invented in 1960, this sport that combines speed and skill became fashionable in France in the 1990s, thanks especially to the champion of France, Nathalie Simon (1986). Today we tend to use the term windsurfing, which has come into fashion.

5/ Le wakeboard / flyboard / hoverboard

What’s all that?

Wakeboard (or skurf) is a combination of the techniques of waterskiing, snowboarding and surfing. Wakeboard practitioners are attached by a rope to a motorboat which pulls them, allowing them to slide on the water while standing on a surfboard.

Flyboarding was invented in the spring of 2011 by a French jet ski racer, Franky Zapata. This latest watersport features a sort of improved wakeboard. In order to obtain the thrust necessary for its propulsion, it is equipped with a flexible tube linked to the outlet of the jet ski turbine.
The principle of the hoverboard is the same as for the flyboard, the difference being that with the hoverboard, you use a board the size of a “skateboard” above the water.

When first learning the technique, the power of the water jet propelling you is adjusted by the instructor. You just have to manage your balance, which is what makes flyboarding or hoverboarding accessible to everyone

6/ Jet-skiing

Jet-ski touring is possible without a boat permit, as of the age of 16. On the beach of Carras in Nice (Baie des Anges), discover these new sensations providing such unforgettable moments in a magnificent setting!

7/ Catamaraning

It’s also possible to rent a catamaran, ideal for discovering the French Riviera.
If you don’t have the sailing skills required to navigate on your own, you can engage a professional skipper.

8/ Diving

Let’s not forget scuba diving!

The seabed of the French Riviera holds some nice surprises for you. Scuba diving sites on the French Riviera are renowned for their variety, diversity and often exceptional beauty; discover them on your first dive, during technical dives or exploratory dives.
