The Carnival of Nice, one of the biggest in the world!
From February 11 – 26

This year’s theme: The “King of Energy” Electric, fossil, wind, solar, hydraulic, renewable energies…But also energy exerted by humans.
A carnival-esque parade, with floral floats, marching bands, and flower battles, ignites the city.

No less than 20 floats and 300 papier maché characters (the famous “grosses têtes”), designed by top designers from the world’s biggest newspapers, parade with musical groups from around the world.

More than 600,000 carnival participants are expected every year.

The Lemon festival in Menton, a tangy event!
from February 11th through March 1st

 

Citrus fruit, the veritable emblem of Menton, reigns there as absolute master. You’ll admire the floats decorated with oranges and lemons that spring up all along the coast, and an exhibition built around citrus themes. The Lemon Festival also proffers “gardens of light” and nocturnal floats.

More than 300 tons of citrus fruit, for the delight of the nearly 230,000 visitors each year.

The Mimosa festival in Mandelieu-La Napoule, a traditional event organised every year since 1931! 
From February 15 – 22

On the programme: a nocturnal parade in the city centre, a large floral float, a pyro-aquatic spectacle, but also hikes for pedestrians and guided bus tours…

Close to 12,000 tons of local mimosas are used each year for the floral floats and flower battles.

Classics revisited at the National Theatre of Nice: “Karamazov”, after the Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky, directed by Jean Bellorini. “Don Quixote, the Invincible”, after the work by Miguel de Cervantes, adaptation and artistic direction by Felicien Chauveau.
